Program is Cancelled for Summer 2020 due to low enrollment
Sibiu, Romania
We are going to Transylvania!
A collaborative initiative between SUNY-Suffolk and Lucian Blaga University (Sibiu,
Romania) Theatre departments, this program allows students to take a credit bearing
course in Modern Theatre at Suffolk and participate in one of the largest Performing
Arts Festivals in Europe while at it! (www.sibfest.ro).
Led by the Suffolk Theatre Department faculty, students will prepare for the trip
to Romania by attending lectures on campus before departure, reading required plays
and analyzing the program of the Festival under faculty’s guidance in preparation
for the experiential component in Sibiu,
While on location, students will learn how to create meaning out of this experiential
learning, how to utilize the new experience during jobs application processes in the
future, how to integrate effectively into a new cultural environment and navigate
complexities of one of the largest Performing Arts events in the world.
During the trip students will have access to the events at the Sibiu International
Theatre Festival, attend at least 10 shows, have student passes to the Festival Club,
participate in a service learning trip to the village of Altana, visit the Dracula
Castle and enjoy other nearby historical sites.
