Suffolk County Community College Student Accepted to the Education First (EF) Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program

Stefanie Karayoff, a Suffolk County Community College student and a resident of Ronkonkoma, has been awarded admission into the prestigious EF Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program. Created with the Nobel Prize Museum and the Forum on Education Abroad, this student program is fueled by the belief that in order to change the world, students need to experience it.

The Renewable Energy/STEM Center on Suffolk County Community College's Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood recently won a Gold Award for Sustainable Architecture at the 2024 Global Future Design Awards. The architect/designer for this building was AECOM.

Suffolk County Community College Showcases Impact of New SUNY Student Success Program

Suffolk County Community College recently hosted a press conference to announce the successful implementation of SUNY's Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) program on its three Suffolk County campuses. Suffolk's program launch is part of a broader initiative involving introduction of this program at 25 SUNY-affiliated institutions across the State. This innovative program is modeled after the City University of New York's (CUNY) ASAP. Since its inception in 2007, CUNY's ASAP program has served over 90,000 students and has been replicated across seven states due to its proven effectiveness in increasing student completion rates and narrowing opportunity gaps.

Suffolk County Community College Renames Nursing School in Honor of Jane F. Shearer

Suffolk County Community College proudly announced the renaming of its nursing school to the Jane F. Shearer School of Nursing, honoring the memory of Jane F. Shearer, who dedicated over 30 years of exemplary service to the college. Jane, who served as the Eastern Campus Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and President of the Guild of Administrative Officers, passed away from cancer in 2019.

Suffolk County Community College and St. Joseph's University: Expanding Opportunities for Student

St. Joseph's University, New York (SJNY) and Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) announced last week their latest partnership that will allow guaranteed acceptance to nearly all of St. Joseph's programs for all Suffolk County Community College students who choose joint admission. With 48 articulation agreements between the two institutions, the partnership will continue to facilitate upward educational mobility and enable students to stay on Long Island to complete their studies.
