Math and Science Accessibility

MathType and LaTeX are software applications that are used to write mathematical and scientific notation, respectively. In Microsoft Word, the MathType add-in must be used to write equations that screen reading software will read using the correct mathematical terminology and in the correct reading order. To request MathType, put in a software request ticket with ITS. Please note: The "Equation Editor" in Word is not the same as the MathType add-in. Anything other than the simplest equations will not be read correctly using it.

In Brightspace, MathType and LaTeX are both integrated in the Brightspace editor. For instructions on how to use these tools, please see Learning Environment – Make Use of the Equation Editor.
