Institutional Educational Goals (IEGs)
In Spring 2016 the governance bodies in conjunction with the Office of Academic Affairs and President approved a broad and flexible framework which allows all of the college’s programs to meet our institution’s expectations for education of all students at the College. The IEG’s provide a foundation from which to align the program learning outcomes, course learning outcomes and SUNY General Education Outcomes.
- At Suffolk County Community College, all associate-degree granting programs will offer
"a sufficient scope to draw students into new areas of intellectual experience, expanding
their cultural and global awareness and cultural sensitivity, and preparing them to
make well-reasoned judgments outside as well as within their academic field”;
- At Suffolk County Community College, all associate degree (A.A, A.S. and A.A.S.) granting programs will offer "a curriculum designed so that students acquire and demonstrate…essential skills including at least oral and written communication, scientific and quantitative reasoning, critical analysis and reasoning, technological competency, and information literacy. Consistent with mission, the general education program also includes the study of values, ethics, and diverse perspectives;”
