How to Register for a CLEP Exam
All steps must be completed for successful registration:
- Register for a CLEP exam on the College Board CLEP Website.
- Visit https://www.collegeboard.com/clep to get started.

First, select the exam you want to register for. You will be prompted to create an online College Board account.

Checkout and pay. The CLEP fee is typically around $93 per exam.
- Print a copy of your CLEP Exam Registration Ticket. You will need to bring this on the day of your
exam.
- Submit the CLEP Registration Form.
- Due to limited seating, we recommend you register early to ensure your preferred exam date.
- You may only take one test per exam date.
- A confirmation letter will be e-mailed to exam applicants prior to the exam date.
What To Bring To Your Exam:
Once you have completed the registration steps and your exam date has been confirmed, be sure to bring the following with you on the day of your exam:
- Money Order* in the amount of $44 made payable to Suffolk County Community College
- Your CLEP Exam Registration Ticket
- Your Government-issued ID (e.g. Driver license)
*IMPORTANT: Please remember to obtain a money order in the amount of $44 made payable to Suffolk County Community College. This is your proctor fee, and you will need to bring it with you on the day of your exam. You can obtain a money order at a variety of locations, including Banks or Credit Unions, Western Union or MoneyGram, US Postal Service, 7-Eleven or CVS Pharmacy.
You may send your registration documents via email, or by mail correspondence to the appropriate campus address.

PLEASE NOTE:
- You will not be given credit at Suffolk for a CLEP exam if you previously passed the course at Suffolk or received transfer credit for that course.
- The College Composition Modular exam cannot be used for credit at Suffolk County Community College.
- Check with other institutions for their CLEP acceptance policy.
