D2L Lumi Pro leverages Anthropic’s Large Language Model (LLM) Claude by using content
provided by the course creator. Integrated in the Brightspace assignment panel, the
tool allows instructors to select the specific course materials they want Lumi Pro
to reference. Using this content, Lumi Pro creates learning outcomes aligned with
Bloom’s Taxonomy. Instructors can then review and edit the generated results as needed.
SUNY Intellectual Property Agreement
SUNY’s agreement with D2L protects faculty intellectual property by ensuring that:
D2L does not own input content.
D2L does not own output content.
D2L will not use input content to train the Generative AI models.
SUNY’s agreement with D2L requires that users will not represent that output content
is human-generated when it is not. Instructors who choose to use Lumi or any AI tool
should include a statement in their syllabus. See the SUNY Suffolk syllabus template for guidance.
SUNY Suffolk Acceptable use of AI Policy
Faculty should refer to the College Policy on Acceptable Use of Artificial Intelligence, which requires that, "AI tools and systems are used ethically, legally, responsibly,
and in alignment with our institutional values and academic goals." If you choose
to use Lumi, do not upload personally identifying information, material that has a
copyright, or any inappropriate images.
